The 2008 season - my 7th with Panasonic Toyota Racing - is already underway. I know I say the same thing every year, but I'm going to say it again this year too (only I'm yelling it a bit louder this time) - this year's definitely the year we'll get our first win! At the opening of the 2007 season, I said here that both myself and our fans were hoping that it would be a truly unforgettable season. It did end up being an unforgettable season, but unfortunately for a different reason to the one that we'd hoped. But looking at it from a different angle, we'll definitely see our first victory this year exactly because of what happened last season! Well, almost definitely... probably...? In any case, I'll be shouting my heart out the whole season again in hopes that it will help the team bring home that elusive win!

This year is the first in a while that we've seen two new circuits added to the calendar. Both are also seaside street circuits. Valencia is also famous for its hosting of the America's Cup. Singapore has long been considered a very attractive city. What's more, Singapore will also be the first night race ever in the history of Formula One. I'm trying to visualise what it'll look like on TV... This is all really compelling, but there's something else that I'm more interested in and that's working together with the journalists, photographers and others who will be there at the race. The race is scheduled to finish just before 10pm... Hmm, I kind of wonder whether everyone will actually manage to get on with their jobs seriously at that time of the night...

2008 promises to be another classic F1 year. Last season was one of the most exciting ever and 2008 could be even better: The sport“s biggest names - Raikkonen, Alonso, Hamilton - are now in three different teams which should ensure some spectacular racing.
And then there is Panasonic Toyota Racing. I have followed the team closely ever since Toyota announced plans to enter F1 in a press conference in Spa 2000 and I have written my "diaries" for this website for several years. I look forward to travel the world again and bring you news and background stories from all the races.
Speaking of races - we will have two new Grands Prix this year: A street race in Valencia and a night race in Singapore!
I write this on a cold and grey day in Denmark and it feels a little strange to think about how hot and colourful the next nine months will be. Still, the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne is only four weeks away and I will soon pack my bags for another "F1 Tour".
Welcome to 2008!

Wow, another year is already upon us! This year marks my seventh with f1.panasonic.com's photo gallery and once again, I'll do my best to capture the best moments for Panasonic Toyota Racing in all 18 races. The strength of the top two teams is undeniable, but wouldn't you, like me, love to see Panasonic Toyota Racing, somehow, cut through that mountain and gain even one place in the championship? I hope to be able to capture that moving moment on film for all of you. Be sure to keep an eye on the photo gallery after each race this year too!

Name: Masahiro Owari; Goal for 2008: Realise the goal I wasn't able to last year - run 1,200 km by the end of the year (so far, I've already sliced 290 km of the total); Improve my personal best for a marathon to 4 hr 45 min; And my time for the half-marathon to 1 hr 43; Grand Prix that I haven't arranged plane tickets for yet: None (I'd organised them all before the end of last year's final race - the Brazilian Grand Prix); Weight-loss since the final race last year: 81 kg to 76 kg (this year, no dieting, just running, running and more running); New Year's resolution: "Health before wealth (job)"

Despite the increased attention on Panasonic now and later on in the year, including Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. changing its name to Panasonic Corporation, and all the buzz how well the company's products will serve during the Beijing Olympics - from Astrovision and other digital broadcasting equipment capturing the enthusiastic and outstanding performances by athletes at the various stadiums through to just how well consumer-level televisions such as the Viera series will relay the excitement of each event to viewers across the globe via their beautiful large screens - nothing has changed here at f1.panasonic.com. We're back and ready to support the team and bring you all the latest news on Panasonic Toyota Racing throughout the season!!
