Shanghai International Circuit
Shanghai International Circuit is a state-of-the-art circuit constructed through a massive insertion of funds to the tune of two milliard Yuan (approx. 150 million pounds sterling). The design was the creation of Hermann Tilke, who was also responsible for Sepang, Istanbul and other circuits. It boasts a unique layout of two long straights connected by a series of complicated, winding low-speed corners, surrounded by modern stands capable of seating around 200,000 spectators. Its pressrooms equipped with the latest technology and equipment have also received the approval of the media.
Access
A large-scale expressway was constructed in conjunction with the hosting of the Formula One, with an interchange located for direct access to the circuit. The expressway means the trip from Shanghai central takes less than one hour. (Airport: Shanghai International)
Climate
Shanghai in early autumn is said to be the best time of year to visit; however, do be prepared for the often quite high daytime temperatures and the occasional rain. It is also the start of the peak season for the areas local delicacy - the Shanghai hairy crab.
